My next project will be a 54mm historical figure by Andrea Miniatures, Rob Roy. I tried out my new bottle of liquid green stuff, and it worked out well for filling gaps.
I will definitely not be painting him like the box art, which is based on the Liam Neeson film.
I intend to enter him in next year’s NCMSS show, so my version needs to be historically accurate. Robert MacGregor was called “Rob Roy” because of his red hair, so I’ll use this reference photo to paint his head:
I also will have to paint the kilt with the MacGregor tartan of his clan from the time when Rob Roy lived. Unfortunately, it’s not as visually interesting as the box art/movie version, but if I want to do it right, that’s how it will have to be:
“Big Doc” is also from Andrea Miniatures. I just got him in this week to paint for Steve. I really like the detail on their 54 mm miniatures!
They are very high quality, hence the high price. This one I got for ridiculously cheap ($6) at a show.
I look forward to seeing Big Doc in your blog!
