Orc Family Diorama Finished!

By Joy Schoenberger on August 15, 2011

Well, I wrapped this one up, and took some photos. You can see more photos in my Gallery. Special thanks to Andrew Pieper for sculpting the fallen potted plant for me! If you’d like to cast a CMON rating vote my way, here’s the link. This Mini’s Current Rating: My CMON Artist Ranking:

Orc Family Diorama, Part 9: Do-Dads

By Joy Schoenberger on August 13, 2011

I finished up the slingshot boy, and glued him on. The scene still needed something, so I added a couple do-dads. The first was some logs in the fireplace, as suggested by Andy Pieper. They are twigs from my yard, with some sand for ash. I also sculpted a ball of twine out of green […]

Orc Family Diorama, Part 8: Details

By Joy Schoenberger on August 11, 2011

Mom’s skirt is now sporting some tropical flowers. Both boys got some touchups, and the brick chimney had somewhat of a going over. It’s coming along! The slingshot boy isn’t done yet.  I could have finished him, but I got distracted by details.  That’s ok.  At least I’m having fun!

Orc Family Diorama WIP Part 7: Boys

By Joy Schoenberger on August 3, 2011

The little boy making faces is finished, and added to the scene: I think the Mom’s skirt may need something more. I’m considering painting some big flowers on it, like a muumuu print. The rug got a touch of color, and the cat acquired some stripes: I’ve just started painting the other boy.  Lots to […]

Orc Family Diorama WIP Part 6, Mom & Boy

By Joy Schoenberger on July 30, 2011

I finished painting the Mom, and added her to the scene: I glued some twist tie wire onto the slingshot, so it will have real bands. I also started painting the little boy making faces at his Grandpa.  The pants are supposed to be more orange than yellow.  I’ll have to work on that, and […]

Orc Family Diorama WIP, Part 5: Mom

By Joy Schoenberger on July 25, 2011

I’ve painted a simple pattern on the rug, touched up Grandpa and stuck him onto the base, and started on Mom. The baby’s face cracks me up!

Orc Family Diorama WIP, Part 4: Base

By Joy Schoenberger on July 19, 2011

I used some more Magic Putty on the sides of the base, then filed and sanded them as smooth as I could get them. Next I started painting the base. I haven’t decided yet what pattern I want to use for the rug, so I’ve left that alone for now.  The holes in the floor […]

Orc Family Diorama, Part 3: Grandpa

By Joy Schoenberger on July 16, 2011

The orc shaman (Grandpa) is done now.  Once he gets glued onto the diorama, it will no longer be possible to see him from all angles, since he’ll be standing in the corner, so I sticky tacked him to a gaming base to take photos. On to the next mini!

Orc Family Diorama WIP, Part 2: Color palette

By Joy Schoenberger on July 15, 2011

Here is the Orc Shaman (Grandpa) up close, with a few more hours of painting put onto him. There are still a few areas that are completely unpainted, and other painted parts that still need work, but you get the idea. I chose a harmonic range of warm colors, from yellow-green to violet around the […]

Orc Family Diorama WIP, Part 1: The Plan

By Joy Schoenberger on July 15, 2011

I’m constructing a diorama now, which I hope to enter in Reaper’s online painting contest, either summer or fall, depending on when I get it done. Here’s a shot of the base with all the minis placed on it. I’ve put about 5 hours of painting into the Orc Shaman so far. The base is […]
